Product Recalls
Some products are determined to be hazardous after being released into the marketplace. If you've registered a product with its manufacturer or one of its dealers, you should be notified (normally via U.S. Mail) if the product is determined to qualify for corrective repair or is recalled. Unfortunately, many homeowners fail to register their purchases and, therefore, are not informed about product-related risks in their home. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the government agency charged with reviewing product-related concerns to determine when a public warning or recall should be issued:
